Moving with Short Notice

If you find yourself moving with short notice, storage can give you a little bit of wiggle room. You can keep all of your belongings in a storage unit while you stay with friends, family, or at a hotel until you find a new place that’s right for you.

Humidity and temperature are kept consistent in these types of units, so it mimics the type of environment you would get in your home. This is perfect for furniture, memorabilia, electronics, antiques, artwork, records, and mattresses. Other options are great for more hardy items, but typically for a whole household’s worth of items, you will want to make sure everything is protected from humidity and moisture.

Drive-Up Storage Units

Another option for storing your belongings is drive-up storage units. These are perfect for storing vehicles, outdoor equipment, and anything you have in your shed or garage. Because these units are outside, they are more prone to fluctuations in temperature and humidity. For this reason, avoid putting anything in here that you wouldn’t store in your garage.

Interior Non-Climate Controlled Storage

Interior non-climate controlled storage may be the right solution for you if you are planning to store indoor items for a short period of time. While it doesn’t provide the same level of temperature and humidity control as a climate-controlled unit, it tends to be better than a drive-up storage unit. Being located inside protects your items more from moisture, dust, and dirt, and will result in less temperature fluctuation than an outdoor unit. Although it is still recommended to invest in a climate-controlled unit, this type of unit will still serve you well if you plan to store your household items short-term in storage.
